Microns
One thing you need to know about evaluating water filters is to focus on how many microns it can eliminate.

Each filter comes with a micron rating. Lower the micron number, the better. However, water pressure is lower because the water can't pass through the cartridge filter as fast as it can go through a 3/8" faucet supply line.  Raising the micron rating to 25 would increase the water pressure.

Most cartridge filters include a micron rating. One micron is equivalent to 0.000039 inches. A human hair measures 50 to 70 microns in diameter. Particles that are 5 microns and smaller usually don't cause a problem.

We recommend starting with the smallest rated micron  cartridge first, such as 5 microns.  If the cartridge is loading up too fast, then you may choose a higher-rated micron cartridge, next time, to achieve the proper balance between performance and cartridge life.
